Clemson football: 5-star DT receives crystal ball prediction for Tigers
One of the top targets in the class of 2022 for the Clemson football program recently received a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Tigers.
5-star DT Travis Shaw was on campus for Clemson’s inaugural Elite Retreat this past weekend and the returns were nothing but positive coming away from his first visit to campus in quite some time.
Clemson 247’s Anna Hickey put in her crystal ball prediction for Shaw in favor of the Tigers following his visit and listed her confidence as ‘medium.’ In addition to Hickey, five more 247 Sports’ recruiting insiders have placed crystal ball predictions for Shaw and all of them point to him choosing Clemson when it’s all said and done.
5-star DT Travis Shaw has been the top defensive line prospect for Clemson football for quite some time
There has been no question as to who the top prospect on the defensive line has been for Clemson during this 2022 recruiting cycle.
While the Tigers have taken the ‘wait and see’ approach on some other positions, it has been clear since Day 1 that Travis Shaw was the guy they wanted most at the defensive tackle position. And it’s easy to see why.
Shaw, who is rated as the No. 4 DL in the country and the No. 1 overall player from the state of North Carolina, stands tall at 6-foot-5 and weighs 310 pounds. He has been compared to Dexter Lawrence at times but there’s a certain amount of athleticism to him that comparison doesn’t do justice.
Shaw is the type of defensive lineman who can line up on the inside and overpower guys, but he’s also not afraid to use his quick-twitch, explosiveness and agility to get past blockers, as well.
Clemson’s main competition for the talented 5-star remains North Carolina and Georgia.
