Clemson football hosted quite a few elite prospects over the weekend, a much-needed recruiting start for the Tigers as college football programs can finally host recruits.

Over the weekend, there was a lot of talk about five-star quarterback Arch Manning being on campus for the Swinney football camp and throwing for those in attendance. Like former Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Manning has had a lot of eyes on him from a young age – though in this case, it’s because he is the next in line from football royalty.

Arch lived up to the rumors and expectations by all accounts as he threw some impressive passes in the indoor practice facility, including a perfectly placed touchdown to Matayo Uiagalelei – younger brother of current Clemson football quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.

Arch Manning was not the only elite quarterback visiting Clemson football

While Manning got all of the attention from the media this weekend, Clemson football also hosted another elite quarterback over the weekend who was just as impressive.

Class of 2023 five-star quarterback Malachi Singleton was also on campus over the weekend and also had an impressive showing in front of the Clemson coaching staff. Whether or not he gets a Clemson offer remains to be seen – though he is worthy enough for one.

The elite rising junior out of Acworth, Georgia has offers from UGA, Miami, NC State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech to name a few. According to sources, he is hoping to get an offer from Dan Mullen and Florida soon and would love to play for the Gators or the Hurricanes – though he has not said that directly.

While Singleton doesn’t have the luxury of the Manning name, he does come from a family of elite college athletes and is also coached by former Auburn quarterback Tyler Queen – he will be well equipped and prepared to take the next step.

That said, we all know and have seen what happens when Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers come calling.

In recent years, the Tigers have signed several elite quarterbacks out of the peach state – Deshaun Watson, Zerrick Cooper, and Trevor Lawrence. Quarterback coach Brandon Streeter has a knack for identifying the next talented field general he wants and then allows Clemson to draw them in.

Regardless of what happens with the 2023 recruiting class at quarterback whether it be Arch Manning, Malachi Singleton, or another elite quarterback, Clemson football will be just fine and will again sign one of the better classes in the country.
