Longtime Clemson football teammates will be going head-to-head against one another when the Tigers take the field against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, Sept. 4 to open up the 2021 season at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
It was officially announced this week that former Tiger DB Derion Kendrick would be transferring to Georgia. Kendrick was dismissed from the Clemson football program earlier this spring and shortly was arrested thereafter. A report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said that there is “growing optimism” that Kendrick’s charges will be dropped.
With him in a different uniform, it will mark the first time in their history that the two friends and teammates will play against one another outside of the practice field.
Ross reacted to the officially report that Kendrick would be transferring and had nothing but “love” for his former teammate.
Love bro let’s eat .. 🖤 https://t.co/aWw18XjKb6

We’ll side with Justyn Ross & Clemson football in this in-game matchup
There’s clearly nothing but respect and love coming from Ross towards Kendrick, but we should expect there to be plenty of competitiveness when the two players get on the field in September.
Kendrick is no stranger to trash talk and he’s not going to hold back on his former teammate when he gets a chance to one-on-one against Ross and his former team in Clemson.
Kendrick is going to have a competitive fire and we should expect the same thing for Ross, who’ll be playing his first football game since the National Championship game against LSU in January of 2019.
It’s going to be a fun matchup, but it’s one that we would absolutely give an advantage to Ross and Clemson football.
Kendrick has great potential, but we saw too many times last season where he was beat on an island, especially with the deep. We can expect the Tigers to use Ross’s height advantage and vertical skills to their advantage against Kendrick and they’ll absolutely be looking to test their former DB.
It should be fun.
