Former Clemson QB Deshaun Watson has been in the news for the wrong reasons over the course of the past few months.

Watson has been accused of sexual misconduct with more than 20 women and while no one knows how the cases will turn out yet, there have been reports that point towards settlement.

Even if Deshaun Watson settles out of court, there are questions about what ramifications he could be facing from the NFL, including suspensions and fines. Many have declared that Watson is “damaged goods” and that his value in the league has been diminished from the accusations.

Still, the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain reported that there are still teams interested in a potential trade for the quarterback and the Philadelphia Eagles seem to be at the top of that list.

"“The Eagles are an interesting possibility because of the draft capital they’ve stockpiled. They traded Carson Wentz to Indianapolis and handed the job to Jalen Hurts, the Channelview native who was drafted in the second round in 2020,” McClain wrote. “As a rookie last season, Hurts started four games. He was 1-3 as a starter, throwing for 1,061 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. He completed 52 percent and compiled a 77.6 rating. Hurts, who has Joe Flacco as a backup, showed the Eagles enough for them to trade Wentz, who had been their franchise quarterback before regressing.”"

Deshaun Watson trade still could be imminent, but we wouldn’t call it a ‘done deal’

McClain noted that the Eagles have two first-round picks if Carson Wentz- who they just traded to Indianapolis- doesn’t play at least 70 percent of the snaps for the Colts or if the team makes the playoffs.

The potential for the Texans to rack up two first-round picks in exchange for Watson- especially since the two parties might just need a fresh start- might be enticing enough for them to pull the trigger.

Watson recently posted on social media for the first time in months when he shared an Instagram video of him working out.

It will be interesting to see how the Watson saga plays out over the next few months as we approach the start of the 2021 season.

Last fall, Watson completed 70.2 percent of his passes for 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He had a QB rating of 112.4 and was named to the Pro Bowl for the third-straight season.
