Though the Clemson football program has much more experience in Bank of America Stadium, they’ll be the de facto away team vs. Georgia to open up the 2021 season.
The Tigers and Bulldogs are set to do battle at 7:30 p.m. on ABC on Saturday, Sept. 4th in a season-opener that has been turning heads for quite some times and will certainly be the talk of the summer.
For Clemson football fans looking at buying tickets from a secondary market when they become available, it looks as if the Tigers will be the de facto away team.
We heard as much earlier this year and the Charlotte Sports Foundation reportedly has confirmed this, as well.
Clemson football will be playing on the road team’s sideline, rather than the Panthers’ sideline
If you’re looking for tickets and want to be on the Clemson side, you’ll need to be looking in the north stands.
Both schools will have a certain allotment of tickets and the expectation is that we’ll see a majority of UGA red & black on the south side of the stadium clashing with Clemson orange & purple on the north side of the stadium. The plan as of now is to host the game with full capacity.
Another interesting tidbit from this news would be uniforms.
We could see a situation where both the Tigers and the Bulldogs where their home-colored uniforms, meaning Clemson would wear orange and Georgia would wear either red or black. At this point, we would say that’s probably the most likely scenario. But, with the Tigers being the de facto away team, it wouldn’t be surprising in the least if we saw them come out in the road ‘all whites’ to begin the season either.
It’s all semantics, but it’s still something to think about, especially if you’re thinking about planning a trip to Charlotte this September.
