Clemson football: Masks not likely to be required at home games this fall
While there were still 19,000 Clemson football fans in attendance for home games in 2020, no one can deny that something was missing in terms of electricity and the atmosphere that is created from a full-capacity crowd.
That’s why it was so exciting earlier this spring when it was announced that Clemson football plans to host fans at 100-percent capacity inside of Death Valley during the 2021 season. Clemson has gone through the season ticket request process just as if this fall will be a normal season and all signs point to us seeing more than 80,000 fans inside of Death Valley beginning this September.
Now, the University of South Carolina Athletics Department has announced that it is currently planning for full capacity and tailgating at Williams-Brice Stadium in 2021. The SportsTalk Media Network reported that masks will no longer be required at home football games for the Gamecocks.
All indications point to Clemson football having the same policy in place this fall
While Clemson and South Carolina don’t necessarily work with the exact same health officials, they both go through SC-DHEC and the overarching belief before South Carolina’s announcement was that Tiger fans won’t be required to wear masks this fall.
With the announcement that South Carolina is not planning to require masks, we can infer that the same kind of policy will be in place at Clemson.
There’s nothing like getting to have 80,000 fans inside of Death Valley and getting to see happy faces is something that we’ve absolutely missed over this past year.
While nothing is a guarantee, all indications point to us getting back to normal this fall and having the opportunity to pack stadiums and cheer on the Tigers in what will absolutely be a sweet and memorable homecoming, especially for those fans who weren’t able to make it to games last season.
