Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney has made a name for himself over the past few years as he has led the Tigers to success no one could’ve ever imagined.
Since taking over the Clemson football program, Swinney has won seven ACC Championships, make six-straight CFB Playoff appearances and win two National Championships. Clemson is currently on a run of six-straight ACC Titles.
This week, CBS Sports released its rankings for the top 25 Power Five coaches in the nation and had Swinney ranked as the No. 2 coach in the nation for yet another year behind only Alabama coach Nick Saban.
"“The only thing easier than putting Nick Saban at No. 1 on your ballot is putting Dabo Swinney at No. 2. Is there any other choice? At this time last season, we were wondering whether Swinney was one more national title away from surpassing Saban, but the Crimson Tide coach has widened the gap a bit following his latest title. Still, Dabo is Dabo, and he’s turned Clemson into a dang ol’ juggernaut. It’s one of the most impressive jobs of building a program that we’ve ever seen,” CBS sports said."
Clemson football fans know what they have in Dabo Swinney
There’s an argument to be made that Dabo Swinney is the best coach in the country, but there’s no doubt that he is at least No. 2. It’s tough to place him over Saban when you look at the amount of success that Saban has had- for as long as he has been in Alabama- and the fact that the Crimson Tide still aren’t going anywhere.
That being said, Swinney continues to show his value year-in and year-out.
No one would’ve ever thought of Clemson football becoming a national powerhouse, but that’s exactly what the Tigers have become under Swinney’s leadership.
From culture to facilities to recruiting to management to on-field success, Swinney has continued to prove that he is one of the best in the nation and another National Championship or two could be what is needed for him to surpass Saban on the list.
