The Clemson football recruiting class for the 2022 cycle only has four total commitments currently, but things could be changing in a hurry.

The NCAA has officially lifted its dead period and prospects can now begin visiting colleges again beginning June 1st.

With recruits being able to come back to campus and the major events set for this summer, Clemson is expecting to pick up some commitments and to move forward in the process.

The top 2022 targets for Clemson football heading into the summer

Here’s a list of names to watch and prospects who are drawing interest from the Tigers– and have shown interest- as we head into the summer by position.

Offensive Targets

Running Back:

  • 4-star Branson Robinson
  • 4-star Trevor Etienne

Wide Receiver:

  • 4-star Brenen Thompson

Tight End:

  • 4-star Jaleel Skinner
  • 4-star Oscar Delp

Offensive Line

  • 4-star Julian Armella

The Tigers have four commitments in the class and they’re all on the offensive side of the ball. They’re recruiting in-state tight end Jaleel Skinner hard and there is a major trend for Texas 4-star WR Brenen Thompson, who is being recruited heavily by Cade Klubnik.

At the running back position, there are two targets- and they are the only offers. Clemson will take one running back in this class and the overarching belief is that it will be one of the two names listed above.

The Tigers already have two offensive line commits, but they still could take another one- possibly even two- but they’re going to be slow and careful in recruitment.

Defensive Targets:

Defensive End

  • 5-star Jeremiah Alexander
  • 5-star Shemar Stewart
  • 4-star Enai White
  • 4-star Cyrus Moss
  • 4-star Kenyatta Jackson
  • 4-star Jihaad Campbell
  • 4-star DJ Wesolak

Defensive Tackle:

  • 5-star Travis Shaw
  • 4-star Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy
  • 4-star Caden Curry
  • 4-star Alex VanSumeren

Linebacker:

  • 4-star Daniel Martin

Cornerback:

  • 5-star Jeadyn Lukus
  • 4-star Daylen Everette
  • 4-star Toriano Pride Jr.
  • 4-star Nikai Martinez

Safety:

  • 4-star Sherrod Covil

The defensive side of the ball is where the major recruiting is going to happen over the course of the next few months.

The Tigers have to zero in on their top prospects and they have a big board, in particular, at defensive end and at cornerback. The expectation is that they’ll take two defensive ends and two CBs in this class and we should see that board begin to focus in on a few targets as we progress through the summer.

There are some intriguing prospects on this board, but the ones we are watching more closely will be 5-star Travis Shaw and 5-star Jeadyn Lukus (in-state).
