Trevor Lawrence doesn’t need defending. His game speaks for itself

No one is ever going to garner the approval of everyone, not even Trevor Lawrence.

Though Lawrence has been the most talked about draft prospect possibly in the history of the league, there is still a handful of analysts and couple thousand fans who will look to anything to try and discredit the Clemson quarterback.

Last week, a Sports Illustrated Cover Story featuring Trevor Lawrence caused a ruckus with quotes that many deemed to be ‘concerning.’

The scrutiny on social media began to get so large that Lawrence decided to issue clarity on his words saying that people were misreading the point he was trying to make.

We wrote earlier this week that Trevor Lawrence owed absolutely no clarification, but it did show his maturity and humility to take time to address the haters.

Now, even after the saga seems to be over, many are still coming to the defense of Trevor Lawrence. But he doesn’t need it

ESPN’s David Pollack discussed what Lawrence was saying and gave a well-thought statement pertaining to the former Tiger.

"“I understand exactly what he’s talking about because I was the same way,” Pollack said. “When I played, football didn’t define me. My faith defined me. Trevor Lawrence has extremely strong faith and it’s the most important thing in his life bar none. Family is important in his life. Does that dude show up, grind, work and love playing football? Yes.”"

Pollack’s defense of Lawrence was absolutely refreshing to see someone who gets what Lawrence is saying.

Lawrence never said he doesn’t love football. All he said was that it wasn’t where he found his identity. While this should’ve been a time where people celebrated a football player who had his priorities straight, instead it turned into a bunch of ‘draft experts’ talking about things they have no clue about.

The defense is refreshing, but it wasn’t needed.

Anyone who has watched Trevor Lawrence play knows that he loves the game of football and they know that he possesses that competitive fire to be successful at the next level.

You know what else they understand? He’s a once-in-a-generation talent.

Go turn on the film of some of the throws that Lawrence is able to make. It’s just unreal. He has arm strength that simply transcends what we see from most starting NFL quarterbacks and that’s why he’s going to be the No. 1 overall pick.

In the end, it all comes down to this simple point: Lawrence’s game speaks for itself.
