Clemson football: 3 unanswered questions remaining after spring 2021
The Clemson football team has finished up spring camp and the Tigers have begun to look forward to ‘Transformation Phase’ where they’ll be pushed to get better physically throughout intense workouts.
As we continue to push forward towards the summer, Clemson football has consistently heard its name called among the expected contenders for a spot in the CFB Playoff.
Today, let’s take a look at three remaining unanswered questions as Clemson begins to go through summer workouts.
3. What does Clemson football do at the backup QB spot?
Taisun Phommachanh is injured and out for the season following a ruptured Achilles.
With Phommachanh out, Clemson football has just one QB on the roster in Hunter Helms to back-up D.J. Uiagalelei.
The Tigers are hopeful to have three freshmen quarterbacks on campus this fall, but there is a decent chance that the headliner of the group- 4-star Bubba Chandler- might not ever make it to campus because he could be taken in the MLB Draft. There’s also a possibility that 3-star ATH Will Taylor- who is supposed to be trained as a QB this year before moving to WR- might be taken in the same draft, as well.
So, the question is this: Will Clemson look to the transfer portal or will the Tigers take their chances with what they’ve already gotten?
The Clemson Insider has reported that the Tigers have reached out to at least one quarterback in the NCAA Transfer Portal, but the answer to the question of if they’ll actually take a transfer at the position still remains a mystery at this point.
