Roscoe Crosby

Former Clemson football wide receiver Roscoe Crosby is the sixth highest-rated Tigers signee of all time. Coming out of Union High School he lasted just one season in a Clemson football uniform where he caught 23 passes for 396 yards and three touchdowns.

He played most of the 2001 season hurt – broken nose and a sprained knee.

There were many that were shocked to see Crosby ever show up in a Clemson football uniform. The Kansas City Royals drafted with the 53rd overall pick in the 2001 MLB draft and gave him almost $2 million in signing bonus money.

This is where the Roscoe Crosby story took a turn no one expected. Between the summer of 2002 and the summer of 2003, his life would forever change.

He was down in Florida for the Royals instructional league when five of his lifelong closest friend’s decided to drive down and see him. They were involved in a severe car accident and there of them was killed.

Not too long after, Crosby tore a ligament in the elbow that would require surgery and his brother would go missing.

All that ended up leading to Roscoe completely disappearing from the map as he dealt with all the personal turmoil and being able to see his dreams come true in either professional football or baseball.
