Clemson football fans have always been loyal to their favorite players when they’ve gone on to play in the NFL.

Tiger fans have crafted their NFL fandom around where their favorite Clemson football players have landed and there is a special connection that is felt throughout the entire fan base and those former players when they are rallied around and supported even after they put up the orange & white.

Well, the Jacksonville Jaguars could, in some ways, absolutely blow past that general passion that we see from the Clemson faithful and turn thousands of them into ‘full blown’ Jags fans basically overnight.

There is talk of the Jaguars giving us this dynamic Clemson football backfield pairing

It’s been a given since the Jaguars were given the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft that they were going to take Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence has been the No. 1 prospect in this draft class for well before he even played college football and it should come as no surprise when he hears his name called out first on draft night.

But that might not be the end for former Clemson football players hearing their names called when the Jaguars are on the clock.

There have been several mock drafts lately that show the Jaguars picking RB Travis Etienne with either the No. 25 overall pick (in the first-round) or with the No. 33 overall (first pick in the second-round).

If they did that, it wouldn’t be long before Etienne beat out the likes of James Robinson and Carlos Hyde for the starting spot and we’d be staring down quite the familiar backfield: An all Clemson backfield.

It’s been a ton of fun watching Etienne and Lawrence share the backfield together the past three seasons at Clemson and it’s interesting to see the speculation that the two Tigers could share the backfield again, of course this time it would be wearing black & teal instead of orange & white.
