The 2022 Clemson football recruiting cycle hasn’t exactly gone as planned, but there are still major targets available that could turn things around in a heartbeat.

Of the top priority targets for Clemson football in this class, 5-star DT Travis Shaw remains the highest-profile player and a guy who the Tigers are tracking under a microscope.

Shaw is currently ranked as the No. 2 defensive tackle in the nation behind 5-star Walter Nolen and is considered the No. 9 overall player in the nation by Rivals.com.

This past Friday night, though, the defensive lineman put on a show, registering multiples sacks and tackles for loss and making a statement that many will affirm:

"“I’m the best defensive tackle in the nation,” Shaw said."

Watch the Clemson football target put on a show below as he absolutely manhandles the opposing offensive linemen

Shaw is just on another level compared to the competition he is playing against in this video. There’s not one offensive lineman who can even come close to shutting him down, but it’s how he’s getting the job done that’s some impressive.

Though he’s 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, Shaw is used on the outside as a defensive end in many sets with his high school. Why? Because he’s not just physically stronger than his opponents, he has elite footwork and athleticism, as well.

When you’ve got a guy who is just that much bigger and that much more agile than his opponent, you’re talking about a long night.

In many ways, Shaw’s film reminds us of what we saw out of Bryan Bresee in his high school highlights. He was just able to manhandle the competition and that’s much of what we’re seeing from Shaw- except he has about 30 pounds more muscle.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Shaw’s recruitment plays out. Clemson is considered the leader right now, but both North Carolina and Georgia are going to put up a furious battle before it’s all said and done.
