The Clemson football team will host the annual Orange & White Spring Game Saturday afternoon in Death Valley with right around 19,000 Tiger fans in attendance.

The Tigers weren’t able to have a spring game last year, but we’ll have the opportunity to see them take the field this year and that’s something no Clemson fan should ever take for granted.

As we prepare for the glorified scrimmage, it’s fun to take a look at the two teams and who might have an advantage at different areas.

Three reasons we see Team Orange beat Team White in the 2021 Clemson football spring game

3. Inexperienced QB room for Team White

Team White has two quarterbacks listed: Taisun Phommachanh and Hunter Helms (who will play both sides). While both have shown promise during the spring session, there’s a reason that neither are in competition for the starting job and there’s not as much experience from that group, either.

It will be interesting to see Phommachanh lead the offense and what that looks like, but in the end we think a couple of mistakes from this QB room could be a difference in the outcome.

2. Explosive athleticism of the defense

Team Orange might not have the advantage on the lines of scrimmage, but when you look at the explosive athleticism of the defense you have to be impressed.

Myles Murphy, Trenton Simpson and Kevin Swint are all on the same side. All three of these guys have been described as explosive edge-rushers and that’s going to put even more pressure on those quarterbacks for the white team.

1. D.J. Uiagalelei will shine through

Though we have our suspicions that D.J. Uiagalelei will only play a half, the truth of the matter is that his team has a major advantage simply because he’s on the field.

Uiagalelei is going to activate his playmakers and absolutely tear it up in the passing game. Look for him to have a big day and, if Team Orange wins, it will be because of his performance.
