Bashaud Breeland

For a guy who wasn’t taken until the fourth-round of the NFL Draft, Bashaud Breeland has gone on to have quite the career.

He was outplayed during this past year’s Super Bowl, but no one can argue that he has been an instrumental piece for the Kansas City Chiefs during their past few runs in the postseason and getting to that point.

Despite that, many NFL analysts have pegged Breeland as a ‘buyer beware candidate‘ for this offseason. Though he performed about as well as anyone against long-routes, Touchdown Wire points out that he was not great against shorter routes that force the cornerback to react quickly and use their change-of-direction skills.

"“But on slants, flats, comebacks, digs, outs, curls, and short crossers — the routes that force cornerbacks to react quickly with their change-of-direction skills — things didn’t go as well. Against such throws, Breeland allowed 24 completions on 36 targets for 296 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.”"

In his career, Breeland has totaled 14 interceptions and scored two touchdowns.

While it might not be with the Chiefs, there’s no doubt the former Clemson football defensive back will end up somewhere and it will be interesting to see if he can change the narrative a little bit after some doubters have come along.
