Clemson football started taking on the identity of Wide Receiver U when former offensive coordinator Chad Morris arrived prior to 2011. Wednesday it was announced that Morris has been named Head Coach at Allen high school just outside of Dallas.

Clemson football fans will remember that Morris cut his teeth as a successful high school football coach in Texas before moving up to college as offensive coordinator at Tulsa before his arrival at Clemson.

Tajh Boyd, DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Dwayne Allen, and Andre Ellington flourished under Morris’ no-huddle high paced offense.

It was under Chad Morris that Clemson football finally found the identity that they had been missing. Morris helped lay the foundation for the success Clemson enjoys today.

Morris played a pivotal role in the signing of Deshaun Watson, who would go on to lead the Tigers to their first National Championship since 1981.

The foundation of the offense the Tigers run today is the one Morris brought to Clemson.

When he first arrived the addition of the vertical passing game and downhill run game were welcomed sites for Clemson fans. While Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott took reigns after Morris moved on, there is no doubt he played a significant role in resurrecting Clemson football to what it is today.

Chad Morris takes over one of the most high-profile high school programs in the largest classification in the state of Texas.

Allen High School garnered national attention when they debuted their $60 million dollar football stadium. Allen went 10-1 last season, with their only loss coming in the state playoffs.

Chad returns to Texas high school football after being the head coach at SMU, Arkansas, and one season as the offensive coordinator at Auburn. It is peculiar as to why the college ranks dried up so quickly for a coach that not long ago was the next can’t miss head coaching product.
