The one bright side in latest Clemson football recruiting trends

Things haven’t gone according to plan for the Clemson football program in the class of 2022 recruiting cycle, at least not as of late.

The Tigers lost two top targets to the Georgia Bulldogs last week in 5-star S Malaki Starks and 4-star LB Jalon Walker. While the writing was seemingly on the wall for Starks, it was a surprise to hear that Walker was going elsewhere considering he had been believed to be a Clemson lean for more than a year.

Those two losses– in particular the Walker loss- stung and have left a sour taste in the mouths of many Clemson football fans who avidly keep up with recruiting.

But there is a bright side to look at when we speak of recruiting in this cycle.

While it’s easier to focus on the negative, Clemson football is still set up to have a nice class

No one wants to lose recruiting battles, but it’s the nature of the current world we live in.

The bright side? Visits are about to pick back up and that means the Tigers will be able to welcome recruits back on to campus.

Many other universities and programs don’t necessarily need the ‘magic’ of a recruiting visit to sell a prospect. Clemson does.

Everyone who has ever been to Clemson can attest to the fact that it’s just a special place. When you arrive in the area on game day, there’s nothing else like it. Seeing the orange everywhere. The beautiful scenery. The historic sights of campus. And then there’s Death Valley. It’s something that just can’t be explained in words.

Virtual visits aren’t capable of giving off that same atmosphere.

Clemson football fans can take solace in the fact that visits are about to be allowed again and that will help the Tigers just as much- if not more- than any program in the nation.

This coaching staff knows what its doing and there are still plenty of talented prospects who have their recruitments open. The Tigers have to do a better job, no doubt, but getting the visits back will certainly make that job a lot easier.
