5-star Clemson football ATH target set to announce decision this week
One of the few 5-star targets for Clemson football in the 2022 recruiting class is set to announce his decision this week.
5-star ATH Malaki Stars, who is being recruited as a safety by Clemson football, is set to make his decision on Thursday, March 25.
Starks has a final group of three that includes Clemson, Alabama and Georgia. There is reason to believe that he could choose any of the three when it’s all said and done, but the overarching belief from recruiting insiders is that he’ll likely choose Georgia.
That being said, Starks has kept his decision private and there haven’t been any solid musings one way or another when trying to feel out where he is in the recruiting process.
Starks told DawgNation this week that he just recently took a self-guided visit to Clemson and had this interesting quote when asked if he had made a final decision.
"“I thought I did,” Starks said. “Then I thought I didn’t. I am really close, but to say I have a school right now I really would not know.”"
He spoke highly of all three schools- Clemson, Alabama and Georgia- and it will be interesting to see what happens when he takes the stage to commit on Thursday.
Clemson football has a good chance with Starks, but don’t hold your breath
The Tigers have made it to the final three and they’ve been recruiting Starks at a high level.
Starks would be an absolute great addition for the Tigers and would give Clemson an elite athlete who is physical and capable of playing at the professional level at safety.
That being said, we wouldn’t hold our breath on this recruitment.
There are two crystal ball predictions from 247 Sports’ recruiting insiders and both are for Georgia. Starks is from the area and there has been an appeal from the Bulldogs for quite some time.
Landing him would be a major feather in the cap for the Tigers, but we wouldn’t say that it’s expected at this point.
Starks is rated as the No. 29 overall player in the nation and the No. 4 athlete. He is also the No. 4 overall player from the state of Georgia.
