Clemson football: Tigers ‘in the picture’ for 5-star QB Arch Manning
Clemson football ‘in the picture’ for 5-star QB Arch Manning
5-star Clemson football QB target Arch Manning has begun to dive into his recruitment and the Tigers are on the short list of schools that have a legitimate chance at landing the star QB when it’s all said and done.
Arch Manning- the nephew of both Peyton and Eli Manning, and the grandson of Archie Manning- is a 2023 recruit who is currently rated as the No. 1 pro-style QB in the nation for the cycle, according to 247 Sports.
Manning, only a sophomore, is garnering hype similar to that of Trevor Lawrence coming out of high school. He is 6-foot-3 and listed at 200 pounds with two more years of high school still to go and already has offers from about a dozen Power-5 schools, including Alabama, LSU, Tennessee and Texas.
While Clemson football just got its quarterback commit for the 2022 class, recruiting never stops. The Tigers are expected to be entrenched in a major battle for Manning- and potentially others- in a loaded 2023 class at the position.
The latest update on Manning gives us a little bit of an insight as to what the pecking order might look like when his recruitment heats up in just a few months.
"“Manning has started to dive into his college recruitment as well. He really likes Steve Sarkisian at Texas,” via The Spun. “Their relationship began when Sarkisian was in Tuscaloosa. New Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has picked up where Sarkisian left off and Manning has talked with Nick Saban as well. Of course Ed Orgeron and new offensive coordinator Jake Peetz have been involved. Manning looks forward to seeing what the Tigers offense looks like this year under Peetz. Clemson is in the picture. Ole Miss and Tennessee have called. So have Boston College, Stanford and several others.”"
An offer from Clemson football is unlike any other and there’s no doubt that Manning will be getting one
It’s intriguing that Clemson is one of the schools listed.
The schools listed outside of Clemson have already offered Manning. Many teams have called, but the truth of the matter is it already looks like this recruiting race is starting to shape up in terms of contenders.
Who are the true contenders?
There’s a lot of information in that quote about Texas, Alabama and LSU that leads us to believe those will be the heavy contenders. Tennessee and Ole Miss will certainly play a part because of his uncles, but do they really have the star-power to beat out the heavy-hitters they’ll be competing against? Likely not.
It will be interesting to see how this recruitment plays out as we’re just now getting started. Manning has transcendent talent, no doubt, and Clemson will be heavily recruiting him this cycle.
