Clemson football: 5 Tigers we wish would’ve played during the Dabo Swinney era
Raymond Priester/James Davis
For this next one, we’ve got a tie of sorts.
When thinking about running backs we wish could’ve been able to play in this era, there were two that immediately came to mind: Raymond Priester and James Davis.
Raymond Priester (3,966 rushing yards) held the Clemson football rushing record for more than 20 years before Travis Etienne came along. He played for Clemson from 1994-97, which was a fairly rough era for Tiger fans.
James Davis- another Tommy Bowden era player- finished his career right before Dabo Swinney took over as the full-time head coach. Though he technically did get to play for Swinney as a head coach during the interim season, it would’ve been fun for him to have a couple more years in the ‘Thunder and Lightning Duo’ or to see what he could do in an offense today.
Both guys will be remembered for their workhorse mentality and the amount of work they put into the program and that’s the main reason why would’ve loved for them to have been a part of the Dabo Swinney era and had an opportunity to compete for bigger and better prizes.
