Now we’re not saying that we’d want to replace Tajh Boyd, Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence or D.J. Uiagalelei with Charlie Whitehurst, but there is absolutely a wish that he had been able to compete under the coaching of Dabo Swinney and with Brandon Streeter as his QBs Coach.

Whitehurst was one of the brightest and most-gifted quarterbacks in Clemson football history and he will forever be known as the ‘Gamecock Killer’ after beating in-state rival South Carolina four-straight times, including a 63-17 win over the Gamecocks in 2003.

It’s not that we would trade the Whitehurst era away, it’s more that we wish he had the opportunity to compete for more.

Whitehurst was a great quarterback who had the ability to play at the next level- after all, he did for many years- and having him as a leader on a team competing for a National Championship would’ve been a fun sight.

Swinney would’ve gotten the best out of the quarterback and it would’ve been fun to see exactly what that would’ve looked like.
