Bring another skill position player over to cross train & fill the void

Are there players on the current roster who could be turned into cornerbacks? That’s something that we expect the coaching staff to at least discuss.

Most of the wide receivers on the roster are 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4 and won’t be tasked with playing cornerback. Unless something changes, you’re not going to see a Joseph Ngata, Justyn Ross, Frank Ladson Jr., E.J. Williams or Ajou Ajou step over and play cornerback.

Could a player like Brannon Spector be a candidate, though? Spector shows some great athleticism and, perhaps if he had the physicality, he could turn into a corner (at least in a part-time role). The problem, though, is we’re not so sure that Spector has the straight-line speed to play on the outside in that role.

If wide receivers aren’t an option, could we see a couple of the safeties cross train outside at cornerback? A name like R.J. Mickens comes to mind.

An out-of-the-box idea may be to try a running back out there- like Michel Dukes who shows great bursts of speed- just to have another body.
