Clemson football: 3 cinematic masterpieces that mention Clemson
The Waterboy (1998)
One of the greatest football comedies of all-time was released in theaters in 1998 when The Waterboy- starring Adam Sandler and Henry Winkler- was born.
Sandler’s character Bobby Boucher has quite the infatuation with clean water (high quality H2O) and he takes over as the Water Boy for the South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs.
He shows himself to be quite the linebacker, but has to hide his life as a ‘fuz ball’ player from his mother, who wouldn’t approve.
During his run leading the Mud Dogs to several victories (ultimately earning them bowl eligibility), there are several newspaper compilations of their wins, including a 6-3 victory over- you guessed it- Clemson.
It wouldn’t be surprising that a Clemson football team in the late 1990s would lose a game only scoring a field goal, especially having to go against a lockdown defender like Boucher himself. Thanks a lot, Tommy West.
