Three times Clemson football was mentioned in beloved movies

It’s always fun when we see the Clemson football program mentioned nationally.

The ‘power of the paw’ has grown exponentially under the leadership of Dabo Swinney, but as we’ll see today: People knew about Clemson many years before the Swinney era began.

We’re talking ‘cinema’ today, but there is a small little mention of Clemson University in the popular television sitcom ‘Saved by the Bell,’ which was a mainstay for kids growing up in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

When listing the colleges he had applied to, character Screech mentioned Clemson as one of his acceptances.

It’s little mentions like those that Clemson football fans can appreciate when talking about the notability of the paw even thousands of miles away out in Hollywood.

Here’s a look at three cinematic masterpieces that mention the Clemson football program specifically, two of which you may not have paid attention to before.

Safety (2020)

Safety is the ultimate movie for Clemson football fans and there’s no shortage of mentions when it comes to the traditions and family atmosphere that enthralls Clemson as a whole.

This movie follows the life of former Tiger Ray McElrathbey and his journey at Clemson. He was tasked with becoming the primary caretaker for his 11-year old brother, Fahmarr, while in school as a student-athlete.

The story follows the sacrifices he made for his brother, as well as the hard work and dedication he put in to both his studies and on-the-field excellence. This results in a decision handed down by the NCAA that would be a first in collegiate sports history.

While we won’t ruin it for you, we highly recommend this one as a movie that all Tiger fans should give a watch.
