Report: Clemson football fans will be present at annual Orange & White game this spring
The Clemson football team will host its annual Orange & White Spring Game on Saturday, April 3rd live in Death Valley in front of a nationally-televised audience.
But the fans watching at home on their televisions or listening on their radios won’t be the only ones who have access to the game.
According to reports from The Clemson Insider, the Tigers do plan to have fans in the stands for the spring scrimmage. While this was expected by most considering Clemson football had about 19,000 in attendance for the games this fall, it’s still an important report for Tiger fans who are wanting to see the 2021 team in-person this spring during the practice.
At this point, there is no news on how Clemson football will go about handling fan attendance for the event.
The Orange & White Spring Game has always been a free event with general admission on a first-come, first-serve basis, but that will certainly change in some capacity this time around.
Clemson officials aren’t going to want upwards of 60,000 fans (potentially even more) showing up on campus and piling into Death Valley in ‘general admission’ style until they reach their capacity limits set forth by state public health officials.
Clemson made the best of the bad situation this fall and came up with a detailed-oriented and carefully-constructed plan that allowed fans to be in Death Valley for games. Fans were given mobile tickets and they were asked to enter the stadium at different points. They were spread out in the stands in a methodical way that allowed for the most attendance possible while adhering to capacity guidelines.
Could this be the first year where we see fans pay for a ticket to get into the spring game? The Tiger Athletic Department could use more funds and there will absolutely be a demand to be a part of attendance by Clemson football fans.
We’ll have more on this as we get closer to time and plans are unveiled, but for now, we can at least know that fans will be in attendance in some capacity.
