Clemson football: 4-star QB Cade Klubnik might be the next 2022 offer
4-star QB Cade Klubnik might be the next 2022 offer for Clemson football
The Clemson football program has had its eyes fixed on 4-star QB Ty Simpson as its top target for the majority of this 2022 recruiting cycle and a decision is nearing for the talented quarterback.
Though the Tigers are seemingly the favorite to land Simpson at this point- three crystal ball predictions by 247 Sports recruiting insiders all point to Clemson- there has been some reservations about what school the quarterback will ultimately choose when it’s all said and done.
Clemson, Alabama and Tennessee are the major contenders.
Simpson hasn’t tipped his hand in any way, shape or form as we progress towards his decision date- Friday, Feb. 26- but something doesn’t quite sit right with us in terms of how he has spoken as of late.
He has remained complimentary of all three schools, but it just seems more and more that Simpson has a desire to stay close to home and to play in the SEC, which doesn’t bode well for Clemson football.
Simpson has talked openly about how much he loves the SEC and it was one of the major questions he asked Trevor Lawrence when he talked to the former Clemson QB.
"“It was really cool. I asked him, why did he go to Clemson? Why didn’t he want to stay in the SEC? And how is your walk with Christ there?,” Simpson said in an interview last week."
If Simpson doesn’t choose Clemson football, the Tigers likely have their next guy lined up
4-star QB Cade Klubnik doesn’t possess an offer from Clemson yet, but that doesn’t mean the Tigers haven’t done their fair share of recruiting.
It’s been reported that Clemson QB coach Brandon Streeter has been in constant contact with Klubnik and it seems that a relationship is beginning to form there.
After Klubnik outdueled 5-star QB Quinn Ewers (an Ohio State commit) in the Texas Class 6A state championship, he began to rise up recruiting rankings a little bit and has been a hot name in the recruiting world even before that point.
Despite the interest he was receiving, Klubnik posted this Tweet after the championship performance:
Could that have been a message indirectly sent to Clemson football that he was waiting on an offer?
There’s no doubt that the Tigers have kept a close watch on Klubnik and, interestingly enough, he might end up as the perfect match.
We’ve got no idea how the Simpson recruitment plays out, but if he does elect to go elsewhere- most likely Alabama- it probably won’t be too long after that we see Brandon Streeter turn his attention fully to Klubnik.
