3. Trenton Simpson

Mike Jones Jr. transferred to LSU and that was clearly a big loss, but there’s a man stepping into that SAM spot who is more than capable in Trenton Simpson.

As a true-freshman, Simpson began to steal playing time from Jones Jr. and even saw himself getting on the field in different- including being used as an edge-rusher. Now that the position is his to lose, we expect an even more confident Simpson to take the field.

Look for him to make that linebacker group more athletic and to take that defense to another level. Simpson is a potential first-rounder and we’re going to see a lot of his playmaking ability this season as he steps into the starter role.
