Clemson football: Things have changed immensely since NCAA Football 14
Things have changed immensely for Clemson football since NCAA Football 14
The last time we got to see the Clemson football program inside a video game on a full-time basis was back in the year 2013 when the NCAA Football 14 was released.
Of course, you can technically play as Clemson football in the latest Madden storyline in which you create your own player and battle through the CFB Playoff, but it’s not the same as having a full-time College Football game to play in Dynasty Mode where you can control recruiting, game tactics, building a program and much more.
Earlier this week, EA Sports dropped a massive bombshell when it announced that its new brand ‘EA Sports College Football’ would be making its way to the market after almost a decade of us not having a CFB video game.
The truth of the matter, though, is that things have changed quite a bit since we last saw Clemson football in a video game.
Here’s a look at some intriguing Clemson football notes inside the NCAA Football 14 video game
- Clemson started in the game ranked No. 9 nationally
- Clemson had a 93 overall rating with a 95 rating on offense and a 90 rating on defense
- Tajh Boyd (QB #10) was the starting QB with a 95 rating as a senior.
- Johnny Manziel (TAMU QB #2) was tied for the highest-rated player in the game with A.J. McCarron from Alabama (QB #10) with a 97 overall rating.
- Tajh Boyd was sixth in QB ratings while Sammy Watkins (WR #2) was second in wide receiver ratings (95 overall), just behind Marqise Lee (USC) at 97 overall.
What might be most intriguing to Clemson football fans is the fact that ranked one spot ahead of the Tigers were their in-state rivals- the South Carolina Gamecocks.
South Carolina would go on during the 2013 season to finish with an 11-2 overall record and ranked No. 4 in the country. Also ahead of Clemson were Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M, Georgia and Stanford. Alabama (No. 1) and Ohio State (No. 2) were the top teams in the rankings.
It just goes to show you how much can change in less than a decade. South Carolina was once considered an elite team. Now, the Gamecocks are struggling to get to .500. Clemson once was ranked barely inside the top-10, now it would be an absolute disrespect to have the Tigers outside the top-three.
Times have changed for the better, we’d say.
