NFL Draft analyst says Trevor Lawrence has no comparison

Former Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick taken in the 2021 NFL Draft and that’s coming as a surprise to absolutely no one.

For more than three years we’ve heard NFL scouts and analysts deem Trevor Lawrence as the future No. 1 overall pick. Many fan bases across the nation began the hashtag #TankforTrevor not too long after the National Championship victory as a freshman. The hype only grew as we got closer and closer to the year in which he could declare.

There were analysts saying that Trevor Lawrence would be a first-round pick in the NFL coming straight out of high school. That’s how special of a prospect he has been and everyone recognizes it. Well, everyone except Brett Favre.

So, it should really come as no surprise when a respected NFL Draft analyst comes out and says there is no comparison for Lawrence.

The Draft Scout’s Matt Miller has been given his analysis of the top prospects in this coming draft and has Lawrence No. 1, without question.

Trevor Lawrence has no comp and that’s because there’s never been anyone like him

There have been plenty of special quarterbacks come through the collegiate ranks and get drafted at the next level. Some have worked out, others haven’t.

We’ve seen historically-great players come in later rounds and we’ve seen absolute flops be taken with a top-five pick.

Still, the fact that Miller can’t place a comp on Trevor Lawrence has to do with the special nature of his skills and ability.

Lawrence has one of the strongest arms in the world when it comes to playing the quarterback position. He can make throws that only a handful of quarterbacks can make- professional or collegiate. That astounding arm strength, combined with the fact that he is 6-foot-4 and more than 220 pounds is what has NFL scouts- particularly the Jacksonville Jaguars- drooling.

Lawrence isn’t just some quarterback who has a lot of likeable traits. He has every single trait, intangible, skill and measurable that you want in an NFL quarterback. There just never has been another NFL prospect like him and there very well may not be another one again.

We’re not here to tell you that Trevor Lawrence will turn out to be the best QB ever or that he’ll even achieve Hall of Fame ranks- it’s far too early to know any of that- but in terms of just being a pure prospect, he checks every single box imaginable and then some.
