National Signing Day: All Tigers were signed, sealed, and delivered in December
National Signing Day without a worry is nice for a change.
The entire 2021 Clemson football class was signed, sealed, and delivered almost two months before National Signing Day and it has been a nice change of pace.
All 19 of the Clemson football signees took part in the December early signing period and 12 of them have already enrolled. If fans of other teams were holding out hope that they could steal 5-star recruits Tristan Leigh, Barrett Carter, or Will Shipley from Clemson, they can move on to other recruits.
According to 247Sports, entering National Signing Day, this Clemson class is the fifth-best class in the country behind Alabama, Ohio State, UGA, and LSU. However, the Tigers per recruit average is third in the country behind Alabama and Ohio State.
The Tigers 94.02 rating per recruit is the highest in program history.
It is higher than the 2018 Trevor Lawrence class, higher than the 2020 DJ Uiagalelei, Bryan Bresee, and Myles Murphy class and it is certainly higher than the 2014 Deshaun Watson class.
While some may say the 2021 signing class lacks substance, this class is chalked full of playmakers on both sides of the ball as well as guys that will add a lot of elite depth to positions of need like running back, tight end, offensive line, and linebacker.
Regardless of where Clemson ends up when all the final National Signing Day votes are tallied, one thing for certain is the Tigers coaching staff did an incredible job putting this class together with a bunch of outstanding young men on and off the field.
There is no doubt that this class will continue the excellence that started with CJ Spiller, carried on by players like Tajh Boyd, Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, and Travis Etienne. As head coach Dabo Swinney loves to remind everyone, the best is yet to come and the 2021 signing class certainly holds true to that.
