Deshaun Watson is the only QB on the planet who wants to play for Jets

Former Clemson QB Deshaun Watson reportedly has a leader in the clubhouse for where he’d like to play and it’s about as shocking as it comes.

According to reports from Armando Salguero at The Miami Herald, Deshaun Watson has two teams that stand out above the rest with the New York Jets as his top preferred destination and the Miami Dolphins second.

"“Quarterback Deshaun Watson, unhappy with his situation with the Houston Texans, apparently has a ranking for which new team he’d like to play:And, yes, he really wants to move to the AFC East. But he prefers to play for the New York Jets. And, second, he’d like to play for the Miami Dolphins. In that order,” Salguero said."

Excuse me, what?

As Clemson football fans, there’s no doubt that there’s a love that goes deep with Deshaun Watson.

Watson is considered by most to be the greatest Tiger of all-time as he was the first quarterback to lead Clemson to two National Title appearances and the first two win a National Championship (2016) since 1981.

That being said, Deshaun Watson’s desire to play for the Jets baffles us in ways we can’t describe

There’s only one reason to move to the Jets and that has to do with building a brand. The New York market is one of the biggest in the country and there’s much more to football that can be accomplished there- if Watson is successful.

That being said, you’ve also got to realize that the fans and media aren’t forgiving in New York. A few years of abysmal showings and they’re done with you. And you’re out just like that.

But, outside of building a brand, there’s truly no reason that Watson should want to go to the Jets.

The Jets’ offensive line is only a marginal upgrade compared to Houston. The playmakers around him aren’t any better. The franchise as a whole has been swimming in mediocrity for just as long- actually longer- than the Texans have and there’s no ‘quick fix’ to make that team a legitimate postseason contender.

Clemson football fans celebrated when the Jacksonville Jaguars earned the No. 1 pick in the draft over the Jets because that meant Trevor Lawrence didn’t have to move to that abysmal franchise, but now it seems as if Deshaun Watson wants to move there.

Everyone understands that Houston has been a bad situation for Watson, but moving to the Jets is a lateral move at best in every single aspect in terms of on-the-field promise and potential.

Our conclusions? Deshaun Watson has to be the only quarterback on the planet who’d actually prefer to play for the New York Jets.
