The 2021 Clemson football schedule could be released in January

We’re just a little over a week from the end of the 2020 College Football season and we’re already looking ahead to 2021.

The 2020 Clemson football season saw the Tigers continue a streak of winning ACC Championships and making the CFB Playoff, but it didn’t end with a storybook finish. Clemson was beaten by the Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinals and that loss has given Tiger fans a reason to look forward to the next season and hope for revenge in the future.

As we look forward to the 2021 Clemson football season- which is still more than seven months away- there is a little bit of news as to when we’ll see the schedule released.

Tigernet’s David Hood reported Friday morning that an ACC source had told him the hope was to have the schedule released by the end of January. Of course, as Hood pointed out, all things are fluid right now and are subject to change as the conference continues to deal with both winter and spring sports during the pandemic.

2021 Clemson football team has a chance to be special, no doubt

There’s no doubt that this 2021 Clemson football team has a chance to be special.

The Tigers are returning basically everyone from the defensive unit and there is plenty of talent of the offensive side of the ball to believe that they’ll once again be the favorites in the ACC and a legitimate competitor for the CFB Playoff.

Here’s a look at the opponents that we’ll see Clemson football face off against in 2021 as the Tigers return to a full 12-game regular season schedule.

  • Non-conference: vs. Georgia (in Charlotte); vs. SC State; vs. UConn; @ South Carolina
  • Conference: vs. Boston College; vs. Florida State; vs. Georgia Tech; vs. Wake Forest; @ Louisville; @ N.C. State; @ Pittsburgh; @ Syracuse

There are only six true home games on this schedule with the neutral-site game in Charlotte against Georgia filling that traditional seventh spot.

We do know the dates of the non-conference games:

  • Saturday, Sept. 4: Georgia
  • Saturday, Sept. 11: SC State
  • Saturday, Nov. 13: UConn
  • Saturday, Nov. 27: South Carolina

Next. Clemson won't go near Tennessee transfers. dark

It will be interesting to see how the schedule shakes up and there’s no doubt Tiger fans are already looking forward to that season-opener against Georgia.
