Don’t expect Clemson football to go near any Tennessee players in the NCAA Transfer Portal

There is an absolute circus unfolding in front of our eyes in the form of the Tennessee football program and it’s leading to an interesting development: Transfers making their way out like a mass exodus.

We’ve already seen multiple stars players elect to enter their names in the NCAA Transfer Portal following the firing of coach Jeremy Pruitt and the expectation is that we will see more follow in the coming weeks.

Perhaps the biggest name? Former Clemson football recruiting target Quavaris Crouch. Crouch, a former 5-star LB, moved inside when he came to Tennessee and has been a starter for the Vols.

With his name now in the transfer portal, many Clemson football fans have begun to speculate that the Tigers might go after Crouch and perhaps some other talent from Tennessee. We wouldn’t expect that to be the case, though.

Clemson football is taking its transfer approach slowly and there’s not a lot of reason to be connected with Tennessee currently

The truth is that we don’t know what other Tennessee recruits and current players could end up implicated in the violations and investigations going on currently.

It’s already been understood that Clemson is going to take a conservative approach to the NCAA Transfer Portal– after years of not allowing transfers at all- and, likely, the first transfer they take, they don’t want any speculation or baggage to come with them.

There’s no doubt that Crouch could potentially make an impact- though it’s unclear where he would truly fall on the depth chart- but is it really worth the risk that’s associated?

There will be plenty of programs who want these top stars from Tennessee, but we shouldn’t expect the Tigers to be one of them.

It’s not saying that any of these guys transferring have broken the rules by any means.

dark. Next. 4-star QB drawing interest from Clemson

They’re wanting to get out of a bad situation- and no one can blame them- but it just seems as if it may be too much of a risk for a Clemson football program that hasn’t even officially opened itself up as a school who is considering transfers on a regular basis anyway.
