Dan Radakovich listed as candidate for open Pac-12 commissioner job

Clemson Athletic Director Dan Radakovich has been an instrumental part of the success we’ve seen throughout the Tiger athletic department over the past decade and many are taking notice.

Radakovich continues to show great leadership and he has worked hand-in-hand with coaches like Dabo Swinney, as well as President Jim Clements, to benefit the athletic department.

Under his leadership, we’ve seen massive renovations to Death Valley, a new Clemson football facility, brand new facilities for basketball and the introduction of a softball program.

Dan Radakovich has had to make some hard decisions, as well, with the choice to end Clemson Track & Field– something that is still being fought by alumni and fans- but the overarching belief is that he has made Clemson a better place.

Because of his success, it should come as no surprise that we see him listed as a candidate for the open Pac-12 Commissioner job, which has come open following the a mutual decision for Larry Scott to move on from the conference.

There’s no doubt that Dan Radakovich could put the Pac-12 on the map under the right circumstances

Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel reported that Radakovich- along with many other names- is considered an early potential candidate.

While Clemson fans might be a little worried about the prospect of losing Radakovich, The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach reported that an early name that has seemingly gained a lot of traction is Ohio State AD Gene Smith.

We don’t know how this will end up, but if I were Radakovich, I would be wary about that job. The Pac-12 has shown its fair share of issues at the top over the years and it doesn’t have to do with just Scott.

He would be inheriting a difficult situation with a conference that has a bad media deal and many hoops to jump through, as well.

It will be intriguing to see how this plays out and if Radakovich has any interest when the Pac-12 begins to conduct its search.
