What we know about the 2020 Clemson football recruiting cycle so far

The 2022 Clemson football recruiting class already has three commitments and the expectation is that we could see more in the coming months as the Tigers progress through the recruiting process.

So far, 4-star WR Adam Randall, 4-star OT Collin Sadler and 4-star OT Blake Miller are the three commitments. Those three have combined to put the Tigers ranked No. 11 overall in the early 247 Sports’ composite team rankings.

The question as we move forward, though, is how the Tigers will handle scholarships and what they are looking for at each position. With the NCAA putting its scholarship conversations on the backburner, it’s hard to even pinpoint a number of how many prospects the Tigers will even bring in during this cycle.

That being said, we can expect that this 2022 Clemson football class will be a little smaller in nature

Because of the potential transfers and the impending graduations, we think you’re going to see somewhere between 16-22 prospects signed.

Clemson is looking for a quarterback in this class. The Tigers have their eyes on 4-star Ty Simpson, but it shouldn’t be surprising if they offer 4-star QB Cade Klubnik from Texas soon. The Tigers have been keeping up with him and he just absolutely went off in the Texas Class 6A state title game.

At this point, the Tigers have made 49 total offers. Here’s a breakdown of the number of offers at each position:

  • QB: 2
  • RB: 2
  • WR: 2 (1 commitment)
  • TE: 3
  • OT: 5 (2 commitments)
  • DE: 6
  • DT: 5
  • LB: 4
  • CB: 11
  • S: 4
  • ATH: 5

The latest on what’s going on with the 2022 Clemson football class

The latest offer from Clemson went out to 4-star DE Cyrus Moss this week and there seems to be major interest developing between the two. He is rated as the No. 5 defensive end in the country, according to 247 Sports.

Outside of Moss, here are a few names to keep your eyes on:

  • 4-star RB Trevor Etienne
  • 5-star RB Emmanuel Henderson
  • 4-star TE Jaleel Skinner (in-state)
  • 5-star OT Gunner Givens
  • 4-star DE Kenyatta Jackson
  • 5-star DT Walter Nolan
  • 4-star LB Shawn Murphy
  • 4-star LB Jalon Walker
  • 5-star CB Jeadyn Lukus (in-state)
  • 5-star ATH Malaki Starks

In addition to some of these names, expect to see more offers in the near future. The Tigers have been keeping up with a lot of guys who have yet to garner offers, but they’re slow-playing recruiting right now with the hopes that the NCAA dead period will come to a close later this spring.
