Clemson football: C.J. Spiller in the CFB Hall of Fame just the beginning
C.J. Spiller‘s CFB Hall of Fame induction is just the preface for what is to come with the Clemson football program
The National Football Foundation announced Monday that Clemson football legend C.J. Spiller would be inducted into the CFB Hall of Fame, becoming the eighth inductee all-time for the Tigers.
The explosiveness, leadership and character of Spiller were things that will never be forgotten by Clemson football fans and why he remains one of the most popular Tigers of all-time even to this day more than a decade after his time at Clemson came to a close.
Spiller had been up as a potential CFB Hall of Fame finalist previously, but wasn’t selected.
He’ll now join John Heisman, Jess Neely, Frank Howard, Danny Ford, Banks McFadden, Terry Kinard and Jeff Davis as Clemson football coaches and players who have received inductions.
Spiller finished his Clemson football career with 21 touchdowns of more than 50 yards- according to Tim Bourrett– while no one else has more than 11. He accounted for 4,967 yards of total offense and 51 total touchdowns.
Spiller’s induction is more than well-deserved and something that we all have been waiting on ever since he became eligible, but make no mistake: This is just the beginning.
There are more Clemson football players who are going to have their names etched in greatness right next to Spiller
There’s no doubting the greatness of C.J. Spiller and there’s no doubting that he is a deserving induction into the CFB Hall of Fame.
That being said, the Tigers have more on the way.
Think about this list of names just in the last couple of decades: Gaines Adams, Vic Beasley, Tajh Boyd, Christian Wilkins, Sammy Watkins, Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne.
You could make a case for others, as well, but that’s a really solid list of guys who should be heavily considered for induction in the future.
And, as Dabo Swinney– also a future CFB Hall of Famer- continues to say: ‘The best is yet to come.’
