3. Saving the 2020 College Football season

It was the moment that changed the direction of the 2020 College Football season.

On August 8, quiet discussions behind-the-scenes about canceling the season were beginning to become loud yelling matches.

That’s when Lawrence posted a tweet that received more than 81,000 likes and got media organizations all across the nation talking in a different light for the first time all summer.

Say what you want to about decisions made, but the 2020 season doesn’t happen without Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence’s tweet and the subsequent #WeWantToPlay movement is what gave conference leadership the confidence and needed-support to move forward with playing despite the massive media firestorm that had built up to that point.

What’s more admirable about that? Lawrence was already the No. 1 overall pick in the coming draft. He didn’t need to play. His draft status wouldn’t be affected by the season, but yet he pushed as hard as anyone to make sure it happened.
