The Clemson football defense will now have its quarterback returning for another season

Clemson football linebacker James Skalski announced he’d be returning to school for one more year in one of the most hilarious ways possible.

Though the overall consensus coming into the season was that Skalski would be heading to the NFL following this year, the quarterback of the Clemson football defense announced he would be coming back for an unprecedented sixth year with a video using the moving ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’

Skalski’s face has been dubbed over actor Leonardo DiCaprio (who is playing the character of Jordan Belfort) and it’s the part when he announces that he’s not leaving the brokerage firm that he has helped to build.

Skalski coming back is a major boost to the 2021 Clemson football defense

That loss to Ohio State clearly didn’t sit right with Skalski and certainly the way that it ended wasn’t what he wanted. He was ejected for targeting and the Clemson defense completely fell apart after that point.

Skalski was the sole leader on the defense last season and he’ll absolutely be that this time around, as well.

It wasn’t just his leadership, though. He was the best player on the defense by far and the unit was clearly lacking physicality when he wasn’t on the field.

Having him back for one more season is something that could be a major change for this defense and its ceiling. You’re now deeper at linebacker as a result and you have a guy who is capable of achieving All-American status back in the fold as the leader of the unit.

We’ll now wait on official announcements from several other Clemson football players who are eligible for the draft, including Nolan Turner, Derion Kendrick and Xavier Thomas.
