Trevor Lawrence leaves heartfelt message as he officially announces he’s headed to NFL

It’s been understood since before this season began that Trevor Lawrence would be leaving for the NFL after his third year, but he officially announced it on Wednesday with a heartfelt message to the Clemson football family.

Trevor Lawrence- who finished his Clemson career with just two losses as a starter, three CFB Playoff appearances, three ACC Championships and one National Title- posted a video on Twitter  thanking everyone in the Clemson family for making his experience one that he’ll never forget. You can watch it below.

"“Looking back on it, I hope my legacy at Clemson was that I was a great teammate and great person. More than football. More than how I played each game. It’s just how I treated people. I want that to be the main that I’m known for,” Lawrence said."

Lawrence said he had learned a lot from Dabo Swinney and the entire Clemson coaching staff and that the ‘faith aspect’ around the program has been the most important aspect of his life.

"“It’s been the best ride that I’ve been on,” Lawrence said. “I look back on these last three years and I have the best memories. Winning a national championship, winning a lot of games and, not even that, but the little moments- being in the locker room, practice, spending every day together, just having those memories, just us laughing and cutting up and just enjoying life together.”"

Lawrence said that the time he has spent at Clemson made him a better football player, but more importantly it made him a better man.

"“I really feel like I’m a man now,” Lawrence said. “I’m super excited for life ahead. The best is always yet to come, but I’m grateful for Clemson and I’m going to miss it…. I can’t wait to see what God has next for us. My time here has been amazing and I’ll be a Clemson Tiger forever.”"

Trevor Lawrence is always going to be recognized as a special leader by the Clemson family

What Lawrence did transcended football. He was a leader. He took care of people and he was a great ambassador for Clemson football.

He was a voice in many ways throughout the community and continued to show how much he loved and cared for his teammates and Clemson throughout his entire time here.

In addition to the work he did off the field, Lawrence is a special football player who’s going to be selected No. 1 overall in next spring’s NFL Draft- the highest selection of any Clemson football player in the history of the program- and he has a chance to go make history at the professional level.
