A letter to Trevor Lawrence: Thank you for everything

The ride has officially come to a close and it didn’t end exactly how we wanted it to.

The thought from Clemson football fans coming into the 2020 season was one of hope that we’d see Trevor Lawrence crowned as a National Champion for a second time before he moved on to the NFL.

Though it didn’t end as we would’ve wanted it to, we have nothing but gratitude for Trevor Lawrence.

You could’ve given up. You could’ve been like the many, many, many other collegiate athletes from around the country who elected to not play the 2020 season and, instead, focus on preparing for their professional careers. And no one would’ve blamed you.

But, you didn’t. You were the spokesperson for there to be a season. You were the voice in the darkness and you made a difference. You didn’t just make a difference on the field, but you made a difference off the field- in the community, with your teammates, with the fans and with the country.

You will never be forgotten, Trevor Lawrence

You finished your starting career with a 34-2 record. You led Clemson to a National Title in your first season as the starter and then to two more CFB Playoff appearances. You won three-straight ACC Championships and finished your career with more wins than any other QB in Clemson football history.

It’s not a storybook ending. The finish to your career is not something that we as Clemson football fans will want to revisit time and time again.

But there’s no doubt that we will never forget you.

You made a difference. You showed the heart of a champion and you absolutely left Clemson a better place than you found it- in more ways than just football.

Ohio State wanted it more than Clemson. dark. Next

From all of us as a part of Clemson nation: Thank you, Trevor Lawrence.
