Trevor Lawrence’s legacy is at stake against Ohio State
The legacy of Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence will be on the line when the Tigers take the field against the Ohio State Buckeyes Friday evening.
Trevor Lawrence is playing in his final College Football postseason and, at most, Clemson football fans will have just two more times to watch the phenomenal quarterback play while wearing the orange.
While we all know that Lawrence is going to leave Clemson as one of the greatest to ever play, he has a chance to make himself the GOAT in this CFB Playoff.
No matter what happens with the Heisman, Trevor Lawrence can cement his legacy with two more wins
There’s a shot that we see Lawrence win the Heisman and that would, obviously, put another feather in his cap.
That being said, he has a chance to do something that no other quarterback in the history of the Clemson football program has done if he can beat Ohio State Friday night: Trevor Lawrence can become the first Tiger QB in history to play for three National Championships.
Lawrence is currently tied with Deshaun Watson (who also had two National Title appearances), but a third one would give him yet another reason to move up the list of Tiger fans and two wins this postseason would put him in rarified air.
The last two quarterbacks to win two National Championships were A.J. McCarron (Alabama- 2011, 2012) and Tommie Frazier (1994 and 1995) and it has only been done a handful of times in the history of the sport.
Can you imagine the legacy that Lawrence would leave with two National Championships, three title appearances, three ACC Championships, a FWAA first-team All-American ballot and the winningest record in the history of the program? All of that on top of the fact that he’s about to be the first No. 1 overall pick in the history of Clemson football.
Lawrence has already proven to be one of the greatest, but he could put his name in Death Valley and on buildings with a couple more big-time performances and it all starts tonight against Ohio State.
