If Ohio State can’t beat Clemson football this time, they never will

If Clemson football beats the Ohio State Buckeyes this time around, there’s no reason for the two programs to meet up ever again.

Every Clemson football fan already knows that the Tigers are a perfect 4-0 all-time against Ohio State and everyone is hoping to raise that record to 5-0 with a win over the Buckeyes tonight in the Sugar Bowl. The winner of this game goes on to play in the National Championship.

The truth of the matter, though, is pretty sad- at least from an Ohio State perspective: If Ohio State can’t beat Clemson this time around, they never will.

We’ve seen Ohio State lose to Clemson football over and over and over and over

We’ve seen the Buckeyes with ‘the best team in their program’s history’ unable to hold a lead against the Tigers last season. We saw a disrespected Clemson football team beat them back in the Orange Bowl during the 2013 season. And then we all remember (or have seen) the famous Woody Hayes punch when the Tigers beat OSU the very first time in the 1978 Gator Bowl.

But no other circumstances in the history of this series have ever favored Ohio State like they do this time around. What am I talking about?

  • OSU has been talking about Clemson and thinking about the Tigers for a full year (no we’re not exaggerating)
  • Clemson will be without their Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott due to COVID protocols
  • Ohio State has played half the amount of games as Clemson, meaning less chances for injuries or chances to get banged up.
  • Clemson has never won a postseason game in the state of Louisiana
  • Most analysts are picking against Ohio State, so they have that much more motivation
  • The Big Ten changed every rule in their book for the Buckeyes to get to the CFB playoff in the first place

If all that wasn’t enough, Ohio State released a video just a couple of days ago talking about ‘second chances,’ narrated by WR Chris Olave.

Ohio State players, fans, coaches and their administration all believe they are destined to beat Clemson. That’s a powerful feeling to have.

They’ve waited and counted down the days for this specific moment ever since the two teams played last all the way back in December of 2019. Yes, they’re that obsessed and they’re that focused.

They’re going to give their absolute best and we’re going to see exactly what Ohio State is about in this one. In the end, Buckeyes fans just better hope their team is for real.

How will the offense look without Tony Elliott?. dark. Next

As we said earlier, if you can’t beat Clemson football this time around-when everything in the world has fallen in place for you- you never will.
