Unlike Kyle Trask & Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence elevates those around him

A closer look shows Trevor Lawrence had the most impressive year in the country.

At this point, some might feel that we are beating the Trevor Lawrence drum too loudly but someone has to. When you look at what is at stake, Trevor should be given more love than he is, and many aren’t because they are too in love with “stats” as the end all be all.

Make no mistake about it, this is the best performance ever by a Clemson quarterback and far better than what Mac Jones and Kyle Trask have accomplished and you needn’t look any further than the offensive personnel for all of them.

Trevor Lawrence’s 2020 season was far more impressive than any year that Tajh Boyd, Deshaun Watson, Kelly Bryant, Mac Jones, or Kyle Trask. Matter of fact, I would even say his 2020 season was better than last year’s Heisman winner Joe Burrow.

How can I say that? Look at the tool they are working with.

Tajh Boyd had guys like Deandre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins. Deshaun Watson had Mike Williams, Hunter Renfrow, Artavis Scott, Deon Cain, Charone Peak, and Jordan Leggett.

Mac Jones has had two first-round picks at wide receiver in 2020 and Trask has had a Top 10 pick in Kyle Pitts. Even last year, Joe Burrow was surrounded by first-round NFL talent.

Trevor Lawrence has elevated those around him.

Look at the 2020 Clemson football offense – other than Lawrence himself and Travis Etienne, there isn’t a single playmaker that will be taken before the fourth round in the NFL draft – regardless of draft year.

Senior’s Amari Rodgers and Cornell Powell have played out of their minds in 2020 and have done a tremendous job on and off the field with all the injuries that have surrounded the Clemson offense.

Both have set career high’s in nearly every statistical category and have almost doubled their career outputs. They are a huge reason that in a rebuilding year, Clemson is 10-1.

Remember, coming into the spring, Lawrence had Justyn Ross, Frank Ladson Jr., and Joseph Ngata. Those three have missed a combined 22 games in 2020 and yet Lawrence elevated the play of Rodgers, Powell, freshman EJ Williams, Davis Allen, and Braden Galloway.

Despite all of that, Clemson football is third in the country in scoring average, third in offensive touchdowns, and 10th in total offense.

How anyone can take a look at the supporting casts and not vote for Trevor Lawrence as their Heisman winner and first-team All-American quarterback is beyond me and just tells everyone you like shiny things regardless of the rust buckets underneath that shine.
