Clemson football favored over Ohio State for CFB Playoff rematch

The Clemson football team will take on the No. 3-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in what will be a ‘dream rematch’ for Ryan Day’s ball club.

Anyone who has been keeping up with this Clemson-Ohio State saga that began shortly after the end of the Playstation Fiesta Bowl last season knows that the Buckeyes have been dreaming of a rematch with the Tigers for over a year.

The only question now that the matchup is set: Will that rematch remain a dream or will it become a nightmare?

According to the folks at Vegas, it could very well be a nightmare for Ohio State before it’s all said and done.

The Clemson football team is favored by 7.5 points over Ohio State heading into this one, which is much more than last year’s spread

For those that don’t remember, the Tigers opened as just a 2.5-point favorite against the Buckeyes in last year’s CFB Playoff semifinal and that number dropped in favor of OSU to just two points before it was all said and done.

Essentially, it was a ‘pick em’ game.

In the end, it was the Tigers who escaped with the victory and went on to the National Championship but that’s not what Vegas is saying this time around.

Clemson opened as a 7.5-point favorite and the Tigers have remained that to this point with no expectation that the spread will drop by any major amount before the New Year’s Day matchup.

Both Ryan Day and Dabo Swinney have given their opponents plenty of locker room board material and it will be interesting to see what happens when the two teams get on the field.

Clemson and Ohio State will kickoff at 8 p.m. E.T. on Friday, January 1st live in New Orleans as part of the Sugar Bowl.
