Clemson football is set to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish seeking revenge
The Clemson football team will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish looking for revenge in the ACC Championship game this Saturday evening in Bank of America Stadium.
The Tigers fell to the Irish 47-40 in double-overtime earlier this season in South Bend without the services of Trevor Lawrence, James Skalski, Tyler Davis and Mike Jones Jr., among others.
Now, with a full roster and an opportunity to exact revenge, the Clemson football team will come out looking to fire on all cylinders and vault themselves into the CFB Playoff with a win.
Scoring Prediction & Analysis for Clemson football against Notre Dame
If you’re going to beat Notre Dame, it all starts up-front on both sides of the ball.
Defensively, the Tigers can’t allow Kyren Williams and that ND offensive line to push them around and keep drives alive. Too many times we saw Ian Book escape for first downs or make plays on third downs to keep drives alive. Too many times we saw Williams break the initial tackle and gain those extra 3-4 yards- sometimes more.
That just can’t happen this time.
The Tigers have to get in the backfield and create pressure. They’ve got to make Book uncomfortable and look for ways to disguise coverages and potentially force him into a couple of mistakes.
Offensively, the same key can be said- it starts up-front.
The offensive line needs to get a push and allow Travis Etienne some running room. At the very least, they’ve got to give Trevor Lawrence time to find the open man and Lawrence has to be able to fit the ball into tight windows just like D.J. Uiagalelei did. Even more importantly, the offense can’t turn the ball over and give free points like it did last time.
In the end, Clemson finds a way to force Notre Dame into a couple of field goals instead of touchdowns and the Tigers get the job done.
Final Score Prediction: Clemson 38, Notre Dame 30
Make no mistake about it, though, you’re not going to be comfortable and it won’t come easy.
