Clemson football set up for major matchup against Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Clemson football team will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a blockbuster matchup this Saturday for the ACC Championship.

The Tigers fell to the Irish in double-overtime earlier this season in South Bend without the services of Trevor Lawrence and several defensive starters, but will now be looking to avenge that loss with its roster back intact.

Clemson football enters this game a 10-point favorite and there’s no doubt that the Tigers should be the favorite, but many fans are going to be disappointed if they tune in with unrealistic expectations.

Clemson football isn’t going to just barrel through Notre Dame

There’s no doubt that Clemson should be favored in this matchup. The Tigers are the more talented team and they have the ability to win this one, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy or that we’re going to see a blowout.

Notre Dame’s win in early November wasn’t a fluke.

Yes, the Irish took advantage of a depleted defense, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of playing at a high level again.

Ian Book proved to be a poised, accurate and smart quarterback in the last matchup and we shouldn’t expect anything different this time. Notre Dame still has the best offensive line that the Tigers have faced this season.

Clemson shouldn’t turn the ball over and gift free points to the Irish this time around. The Tigers should get some added impact, especially defensively, with starters returning and with a healthy lineup.

But that doesn’t mean this one is going to be a blowout.

Clemson football fans should gear up for an all-out war. In the end, the Tigers should come out on top, but they’re going to have to battle each and every possession with a Notre Dame team that is certainly worth of its national ranking.
