Clemson football WR gets good news at his latest appointment

Clemson football WR Justyn Ross received good news at his latest doctor’s appointment, according to Tiger coach Dabo Swinney.

Ross, who had surgery on his neck to fix a congenital fusion condition earlier this spring, has been out of action since March when he suffered an apparent ‘stinger.’ At the time, it didn’t seem that the injury wasn’t too serious, but screenings and tests showed the condition.

There were concerns about Ross’s future in football and he still hasn’t been given the ‘green light’ yet, but it does seem that things are progressing in a positive direction as he continues to rehab and work towards potentially playing again.

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney spoke with the media about the visit and said that everything is progressing well and that Ross is ahead of schedule.

"“It was a great trip for Justyn,” Swinney said via Tiger Illustrated. “We are still waiting on a couple of bits of information from the doctor. There are two big boxes that have to be checked for him. I think they were very pleased with what they saw. They measured his movements before and after surgery and were very pleased with the healing of the area. It’s not 100-percent but ahead of what they expected. He’s in a pretty good place. It was very positive. He is in good spirits. Justyn looks great in practice. He just doesn’t get hit and isn’t in any competitive situations. But he looks great. Hopefully he will get a full release in the near future.”"

There’s no doubt Clemson football nation wants to see Ross reach a full recovery

Swinney has brought up numerous times about how great Ross has looked in practice. He has been running routes, catching balls and continuing to work hard and do the things he has been cleared to do.

It’s always good to hear that he is progressing nicely and, from all accounts, the hope is that he’ll be cleared at some point in the future to begin getting back on the field in competitive situations at Clemson.

It won’t be this year, as Swinney pointed out, but it could very well be in sooner than many expected.

"“I don’t have any availability (update) for Justyn,” Swinney said. “I believe he will play again but it won’t be this year (this season). Our goal would be to get him back for spring practice if he comes back. He could still go pro. He still has to make that decision.”"

If Ross is able to return for the 2021 Clemson football season- and that is the hope- he could be set up to be a leader and dominant target for sophomore QB D.J. Uiagalelei.

We all have seen what Ross is capable of doing at the wide receiver position and there’s no doubt that he has the talent and skill to be a first-round pick before it’s all said and done.
