Clemson football facing ‘must-win’ game vs. Virginia Tech

The Clemson football team will be facing a ‘must-win’ situation Saturday evening when they take the field against the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The Tigers are currently one win away from clinching a spot in the ACC Championship, but they’re also one loss away from potentially being out of the run for the conference title game and certainly from the CFB Playoff picture.

That’s why every game from this point on has the magnitude of ‘must-win.’

A loss for Clemson football against Virginia Tech takes goals off the table

This Clemson football team has made it clear that their goal is to win the ACC Championship, get back to the CFB Playoff and compete for a National Title.

A loss against Virginia Tech would certainly eliminate the CFB Playoff goals and would put the ACC Championship goal on life support, as Miami could move ahead of Clemson with wins in their final two games.

Interestingly enough, a loss to Virginia Tech might not only keep the Tigers out of the CFB Playoff but could mark the final team we see this team play. They’d have no guarantee of the ACC Championship- as mentioned above- and there is no guarantee that bowl season is going to happen as many bowls are canceling each week as we get closer to time.

That’s the beauty of ‘Championship Phase,’ though. You’re risking it all for the opportunity to achieve your goals.

Every game from this point on is an elimination game for Clemson football. If the Tigers lose to the Hokies, they’re out. If they lose to Notre Dame in the ACC Championship, they’re out of the playoff. And then, of course, there’s the playoff matchups.
