Panthers will be sacrificial lamb for Clemson football frustrations
Clemson football is going to make Pitt pay for FSU’s ignorance.
By the time Clemson football kicks off Saturday against Pitt on senior day, they will have not played in three weeks as a team; Trevor Lawrence will not have played in five weeks.
That is a long time for the nation’s best players to pace back and forth waiting to rinse a heartbreaking loss out of their mouths and that means that Pitt will have to pay for the sins of those that came before them.
Senior day is already a big deal at Clemson, I suspect it is that way at most places. However, as we all know, every other year, that is the last time that seniors who have given blood, sweat, and tears to Clemson football, the university, and the fans will run down the hill.
Each is given an opportunity to do so individually in order to be recognized by the Clemson faithful.
There will be a lot of emotion given what the last month has been like for the players on the 2020 Clemson football roster. First, their leader contracts COVID-19 and misses two games. They take on a Top 5 Notre Dame team without seven starters on both sides of the ball and lose a heartbreaker in double overtime.
After 14 days of sitting on said loss, they travel to Tallahassee to beat FSU for the sixth straight time only to have that opportunity taken from them after the administration at FSU decided that they no longer wanted to follow the protocols that all member institutions agreed to three months ago.
The Pitt Panthers arent ready for what will take place Saturday in Death Valley.
All of that will culminate in a game that Pitt is not ready for. Pitt should not have to be the sacrificial lamb but someone has to be made an example of and they happen to be next on the list.
No one is overlooking Pitt either. They are playing their best football of the season and have averaged 44 points a
quarterback Kenny Pickett is having the best year of his career average wise and the Panthers defense has played much better in November after a rough October.
This Saturday won’t be just about the next opponent on the schedule, this Saturday will be more about the frustrations Clemson football will have after not being able to get back on a football field after their first regular-season loss in three years.
