Trevor Lawrence’s impact will still be felt against Notre Dame
Trevor Lawrence will not be available to play in the game against Notre Dame this coming weekend, but that doesn’t mean he won’t make an impact.
According to Dabo Swinney, Trevor Lawrence will still make the trip up to South Bend this weekend despite not being cleared to play. As Swinney said, he will be ‘Coach Lawrence‘ for the matchup.
While some may underestimate what Trevor Lawrence’s impact will be from the sideline, the truth of the matter is that this is nothing but major help for D.J. Uiagalelei and the Clemson football program as a whole as the Tigers look to come away with a victory Saturday evening.
Coach Trevor Lawrence will bring a major advantage to Clemson in two ways
There are two ways that having Lawrence on the sideline helps Clemson more than what the average viewer will pick up on.
Lawrence will be on the sideline- likely in close proximity to technology where he can get instant replays and help analyze coverages- and that’s going to mean that Clemson has not just one pair of eyes from a players’ perspective, but two when it comes to analyzing Notre Dame’s defense and looking for the best way to attack.
D.J. Uiagalelei will be on the field and seeing things live. He’ll be able to talk to Lawrence throughout the game and receive invaluable real-time coaching that goes beyond what you’ll see just watching the television broadcast.
It’s not just an advantage for Clemson to have Lawrence on the sideline to help coach, though.
Trevor Lawrence is going to have the benefit of seeing this Notre Dame defense and its coverages live and in-person.
He’s going to be able to make notes about things he sees because there’s a very good chance that the Tigers and Fighting Irish match up again in just a matter of weeks in the ACC Championship game- and Lawrence should well be back by then.
The impact of having Lawrence on the sideline during this game won’t be discussed ad nauseum, but it’s something that certainly will benefit the Tigers in more ways than what we outside of the program may think.
